Summer vacations mean so many things; sun, beaches, fun activities, and family time. It’s fun to camp out with friends and family during this season. Taking out the caravans and campers, pitching tents and lighting stoves, camp fire and more, all these are synonymous with good times. We’ve put together five spots, not too far from Perth, that are perfect to set up a camp this summer.
Lane Poole Reserve – Baden PowellThis is a famous forest camping area, located at a distance of about 100 km from Perth. The new Baden Powell campground is located within the Lane Poole Reserve, and it can hold 36 tent sites. Six of them are suitable for caravans, campervans and camper trailers. You can enjoy kayaking on the Murray River, or explore the Bibbulmun Track and Munda Biddi Trails.
Perth Hills Centre Campground – Beelu National ParkThis is a very popular campground that’s open for public camping every Friday and Saturday night. It’s also available every weeknight during school holidays in Western Australia. It’s reserved for school groups during certain times of the year. Explore the forest environment of Beelu National Park and enjoy the comforts such as hot showers and kitchen facilities.
Rottnest Island CampgroundsThis is located close to the island’s most popular beaches, The Basin. It was renovated about three years ago, and is situated close to the Main Settlement. It’s got 43 non-powered sand covered sites, as well as ablution blocks and a camp kitchen with free standing BBQs. Stroll to the beach and relax at the campsite with all basic facilities in place.

It’s located at the mouth of the Moore River, and you can stroll to the Western Australian coastline for fishing, swimming or surfing. The Caravan Park has shaded camping bays, upgraded ablutions, BBQ area, camper’s kitchen, and self-contained chalets.
